Lilyana Petrova Lulu was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1982. She first entered an art studio when she was four years old, and her artistic life started almost that very day. She followed this calling throughout her education and in 1999 she graduated from the Sofia Art School, where she specialized in painting. Over the following years, she studied Fashion and Industrial Design at the Academy of Art in Sofia, took an Apprenticeship in Ceramics, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design at New Bulgarian University. In 2009, she completed her Master’s Degree in her original vocation of Painting, also at NBU. In July 2017, Lilyana took part in an international groupexhibition entitled Le Vie dell’Arte in the Galleria Mentana in Florence, Italy.
Lilyana created four paintings for this exhibition, which are the first part of a series exploring the relationship between people and God, between humanity and the soul, reason and the heart, ideas and actions, dreams and reality, happiness and pain, excitement and calm. The series focuses on different states of mind, and is expressed via vivid stories in paint. These stories are especially interesting for the depth and direction of the journey upon which they take the viewer, and the feelings and thoughts which they provoke. A simple experience transformed into a story told in a surrealistic style, able to send the viewer away, alone with their thoughts, deep in the ocean depths
or flying freely among the stars.
Lilyana’s participation in this exhibition set the foundations of a new cycle of paintings tracing the development of the human being, our development and spiritual realization.

Lilyana Petrova Lulu è nata a Sofia, Bulgaria nel 1982. È entrata in uno studio d’arte quando aveva quattro anni e la sua vita artistica è iniziata quel giorno, nel 1999 si è laureata alla Scuola di Arte di Sofia, dove si è specializzata nel corso di pittura. Successivamente ha studiato moda e il design industriale presso l’Accademia d’Arte di Sofia, ha preso un apprendistato in ceramica e si è laureata in Graphic Design presso la nuova università bulgara. Nel 2009 ha conseguito la laurea magistrale nella sua vocazione originale di pittura, anche presso la NBU. Nel luglio 2017, Lilyana ha partecipato ad una mostra internazionale intitolata Le Vie dell’Arte nella Galleria Mentana di Firenze. Lilyana ha creato quattro quadri per questa mostra, che sono la prima parte di una serie che esplora il rapporto tra la gente e Dio, tra l’umanità e l’anima, la ragione e il cuore, idee e azioni, sogni e realtà, felicità e dolore, eccitazione e calma. La serie si concentra su diversi stati d’animo, ed è espressa attraverso storie. Queste storie sono particolarmente interessanti per la profondità e la direzione del viaggio che attraggono lo spettatore, i sentimenti e i pensieri che provocano. Una semplice esperienza trasformata in una storia raccontata in uno stile surreale, in grado di mandare lo spettatore via, solo con i loro pensieri, profondamente nelle profondità oceaniche o volare liberamente tra le stelle. La partecipazione di Lilyana a questa mostra mette le basi di un nuovo ciclo di dipinti che traccia lo sviluppo dell’essere umano, il nostro sviluppo e la realizzazione spirituale

In her paintings, Lyliana Petrova takes us on a voyage through her inner Self,
through passages of time which result in the creation of works with fairytale
atmospheres that lead us to a world of fascination and dreams. In her work, the colors, which suggest a gradated, transparent color scheme beyond which we can see the infinite, become more definite and incisive without betraying a certain levity that leads us to imagine universes and places enclosed in her poetic soul. Brushtroke after brushtroke, the artist tells of a world where marks are precursors of hidden unconscious desires that open onto scenes that recall mysterious paths of imagination from whence an old ship can pitch between the sweet waves of a sea of colors. The paradoxes of imagination lead through the stars to land upon the joy of bright colors that illuminate arenas veiled in sadness. With defined lines, Lilyana Petrova encloses shapes and toned areas that quickly chase the ideas that overlap in her narratives. The works of the artist are intimate trails that look to the aspirations and desires that attempt to mark the journeys of life, which bend to escape the fearful, sudden precipices: the insidiousness of the unknown. These are mental places that tell of fantasies, departures and returns: of infinite blues where stars keep secrets and where thoughts can roll in the heavens, managing to defy the conditions leading to man’s conformity and finding a long desired and protected freedom in the folds of a slender, persistent melancholy.

Lilyana Petrova, con la pittura, fa un viaggio nella sua visione interiore, per
parlare del suo IO e dello scorrere del tempo che la portano a creare opere
dove un clima da favola riconduce a un mondo ricco di fascino e di sogno.
Nella sua ricerca i colori, che suggeriscono digradanti trasparenze oltre le quali si può vedere l’infinito, si fanno più definiti e incisivi senza mai tradire una certa levità che porta a immaginare universi e luoghi racchiusi nel suo animo che sa parlare di poesia. Pennellata dopo pennellata l’artista racconta un mondo dove s’incontrano intrichi di segni precursori di nascosti desideri inconsci che volgono a scene richiamanti misteriosi sentieri dell’immaginazione, dove è possibile che un antico veliero beccheggi fra le dolci onde di un mare di colori. I paradossi della fantasia conducono fra le stelle per approdare poi nell’apparente gioia di tinte accese che illuminano arene velate tristezza. Lilyana Petrova con linee definite racchiude le forme e le campiture di toni che inseguono veloci le idee che si accavallano nei suoi racconti. Le opere dell’artista sono percorsi intimi che guardano alle aspirazioni e ai desideri che vorrebbero segnare le strade della vita, che curvano per sfuggire temuti precipizi improvvisi: insidie dell’ignoto. Sono luoghi mentali che raccontano di fantasie, di partenze e ritorni: d’infiniti blu dove le stelle custodiscono i segreti e dove i pensieri possono volteggiare nel firmamento, sino a sfuggire condizionamenti che conformano l’uomo, per ritrovare la libertà auspicata e custodita fra le pieghe di una malinconia sottile e persistente.
